Jamberry Nail 7day challenge

Posted by Unknown at 9:48 AM 0 comments

I was ask to do a 7 day challenge for Jamberry, I'm super excited for this. So what I have to do is wear 2 Jamberry nail wraps on 2 of my nails and paint the rest with my fav nail poslish.

Jamberry wraps are super easy to apply, I really loved how quick it was for me to apply them plus there was no dry time.

Their are a bunch of different ways you can apply them. But this was the easyest way for me. I used a blow dryer I don't have one of those fancey Jamberry dryers.

But let's start from the beginning, I got really excited and jumped right in.

About the company

According to Jamberry ...

The story of Jamberry Nails begins with three sisters who possess distinct personal tastes, but share a love for style. After an expensive afternoon together at the nail salon, Lyndsey, Christy and Keri vowed to find a simpler, more cost effective way to keep their hands looking polished, while still spending time together.

After lots of trial and error, the proprietary nail wraps of Jamberry Nails launched in late 2010. The DIY, at-home application and incredible variety of designs caught on quickly and sales soared. A new era of nail art was born.

Gone are the days of nails that chip and flake after only a few days! Gone are the days of the single colored manicure. Gone are the mani/pedis that take all afternoon and most of your cash too! Jamberry nail wraps arm you with style and confidence while demanding very little of your time or money.

A little about my Jamberry host

My name is Kyrie Moore and I'm the mother of 4 children.  2 are my step children but I love them all the same.  I used to be in the Military and was Medically Retired, the VA Legally disabled me due to my torn disk...but once I found Jamberry Nails...I just had to show them to my friends and family.  It helps me earn money for my family as well..and that's always nice.  After I got out of the military I love having my nails done but I didn't like paying the salon price...and them chipping once I hit the door of my car...or something that my kids had thrown or broken. Once I tried Jamberry Nails...I knew it was for me!!

My Review

I love them, so easy to put on. The Jamberry nails last the full 7 days. This is a great prouduct I'd use it again.

Soap Nuts Review

Soap Nuts Review

The wonderful people over at Natur Oil ask me if I'd review their product on my blog, of course I said yes. So I've been using Soap nuts for about a week on all of my laundry, Even my diaper laundry. I have to say I really love them on my towels and clothes, but diapers ehhh I don't think so. Yes the soaps nuts cleaned my diapers but I feel that they where not clean enough. The diapers didn't smell but they just didn't feel clean or maybe it's just me. But anyways, your probably thinking what are soap nuts?

What are Soap nuts and where do they come from?

According to Natur oil.

Soap nuts are known worldwide by many names such as soapnuts, soapberry, washing nuts, soap nut shells, wash shells, soapberry nut husk, Ritha (Hindi) nut shell, Chinese soapberry and many more. Very simply, soap nuts are the dried shells (or husks) from the soapberry (or soap berry nut). These berries are the fruit from a quite unique tree species. These shells contain a substance called saponin that produces a soaping effect. Saponin is a 100% natural alternative to chemical laundry detergent and cleansers. It can replace many chemical detergents such as those containing sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) that are becoming well known by consumers for being a skin irritant and health hazard.

Soap nuts have been used for centuries throughout the world as a laundry detergent, as soap for personal hygiene, and as a cleanser with a plethora of other uses. It is most commonly used in India, China, parts of Europe and numerous countries in the eastern hemisphere. There is even a species, Quillaja Saponaria (called a soap bark tree) that grows in South America. However, only in recent years has the soap nut and its many benefits made its way to the shores of the U.S.

The Trees and the Soapberry Nuts:
Sapindus (the botanical name) is a sustainable agriculture and forest product. In many ways it is similar to an olive tree. There are several common varieties of the soapberry tree. Sapindus Mukorossi and Sapindus Trifoliatus are the primary sources for the soapberry that has become know as the soap nut. They are both of the family Sapindaceae, and the genus Sapindus. The botanical name is derived from the Latin words, sapo (soap) and indicus (Indian).

Based upon its high amount of 'soap' content and consistency, the highest quality soap nut is Sapindus Mukorossi, which grows primarily in northern India and Nepal. It grows uncultivated in poor quality ground and helps fights erosion, particularly in the Himalayan foothills. It also provides needed income to the local population. It is a relatively hardy tree being resistant to diseases and insects. The tree grows to 10 to 20 meters in height and begins flowering and bearing fruit after about 9 years.

It blooms with small, white grouped flowers in spring and early summer and is harvested annually during the fall season. The soapberry fruits (the soap nut) are round yellow berries that become gummy, reddish tan and wrinkled as they ripen. Its appearance is somewhat like that of a date. The tree synthesizes its own natural saponins, (soap) which coat the shell of the fruit. The tree has great longevity and will produce fruit (soap nuts) for about 90 years.

Soap Nut Tree Species:
The Sapindus Mukorossi variety produces the most consistent quality of soap nuts of high saponin content. Sapindus Trifoliatus, which grows primarily in southern India, Indonesia and Pakistan, is a smaller tree producing smaller fruit that lack consistency and saponin content compared to Sapindus Mukorossi. The soap nuts from the Mukorossi tree are larger, brighter in color and gloss and are more effective in producing the 'soapy' effect. These soap nuts are typically exported from New Delhi (closer to their growth areas in the Himalayans). Soap nuts from the Trifoliatus tree are less desirable, of lower cost and are often exported from Indonesia. All soap nuts being marketed throughout the world contain the all-important saponins. Consistently high saponin content is the primary measure of quality. In this regard,Sapindus Mukorossi reigns supreme.

Note: Many other varieties of this remarkable tree grow around the world, including the U.S. (one notably called the Florida Soap Berry Tree). The data with regard to the effectiveness of their fruit as laundry detergent is limited and often conflicting. However, data consistently indicates that the Sapindus Mukorossi is the premier variety, and its fruit is the most cherished. To date, we have no knowledge of successful growth and harvests of Mukorossi outside its Asian origins. Albeit, there is no evidence that it cannot be cultivated elsewhere.

Harvesting Soap Nuts:
Local farmers and families harvest the prized soapberry fruit after it falls from the tree. The seed is removed from the shell (or husk), and the shells are dried in the sun using absolutely no chemical processing. No commercial manufacturing processes are required in any way for the soap nut to become effective. The soap nut shell is not altered in any way. Hence, soap nuts are absolutely 100% natural, unmodified dried fruit shells. Note: The actual nut (or better yet, seed) does not release saponin, hence has no cleaning properties. It is used for planting new trees and is sometimes used to make necklaces and other jewelry.

Wow crazy right? Well now that we know what they are, how do you use them well it's very simple just like laundry should be.

How to use your Soap nuts

  • Place 4-5 soapnuts in a muslin or spice bag. Place in the washing machine, and wash your clothes as usual. Replace the nuts after 4-5 washes, or when the flesh starts to lose its color and turn a bit gray.

For really grimy loads of laundry, add 3-4 Tbsp borax to the soap nut concoction of your choice, and wash clothes with the mixture.

It's that easy.. Here's are little trick before you use run under hot water for about 10 seconds to active your nuts, if your unsure if your soap nuts are still good take them in the bag and run them under hot water and squeeze you should see tiny bubbles if you don't see little bubbles your soap nuts are no good and it's time to change them.

My review

Like I said before I used them on all my laundry I loved them, they worked great on my towels and clothes I really feel like they cleaned, and would buy them just for that. But as for my cloth diapers I don't feel like they were clean enough to my liking.

Where to buy?

Cheesy Egg sandwich in 10 mins

Posted by Unknown at 8:51 AM 0 comments
This is such a quick and easy fast breakfast. I love it, takes me about 10 mins to make. I call it a cheesy egg sandwich.

First you will need
1 slice of your favorite bread, take the middle out. Like this

Second you'll need to beat the egg in a bowl.

Once you do all that your gonna take a little butter in a pan let it melt on low med heat, please bread into pan. Then start pouring the egg into the middle of the bread, then with ur fork or spoon spread it all over bread.

Once you start to see the egg under the bread come out the sides, it's time to flip yummy it will be  not fully cooked on the top.

Look at that yummy goodness lol, now that it's flipped time to add a piece of cheese on top.

Let cook for about 5mins. Enjoy :) yummy.

Here are my boys enjoying theirs.

*Updated* Little Doompa Diaper Review

Posted by Unknown at 11:35 AM 0 comments

Little Doompa Diapers

The company

Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 children. She started sewing when she was just 12 years old. Karen first started making diapers for her daughter, she started having her friends and family asking her to make diapers for them, then it ended up growing Into a business.

The diaper

The diaper that Little Doompa Diapers sent me to review is her XL Heavy wetter. The diaper was made using the Rocket Bottom twist pattern, It has a Pul Outer, and a Polyester inner.  The diaper comes with 3 soakers with different levels of absorbency, the soakers are made layers of Zorb ( each soaker has different layers ) sandwich between Cotton velour and bamboo fleece.

The diaper closes using velcro it has three rise snaps for a more custom fit.

Fit and Size

The diaper fit my 25 pound 36 inch tall chunky toddler, the only problem I had was when I tried to use the rise snaps they wouldn't stay snapped. I asked her to make this diaper a little bigger because of how chunky my son is. The fit is pretty good I really liked how it fits him I really wish I could have used the rise snaps to give it a better fit but that's okay.

Thickness/Bulkiness

The diaper itself isn't thick, but with all 3 soakers the diaper was very thick, even with 1 soaker the diaper was still a little bulky. I don't really like bulky diapers because it's hard to fit them under clothes but this is for a heavy wetter, so I understand why it has to be a little bulky.

Aesthetic Design

I like the cuteness of the diaper. Karen has a great section of fabrics to choose from. Even my son loves how cute the diaper is.

Sewing Quality

For the most part the sewing quality looked wonderful – the stitching looks great and it has held up over multiple washings. The only issue we have is I couldn't get the rise snap to stay snapped, every time I tried to velcro the diaper together they came unsnapped. Other then that she did a great job on sewing this diaper.

My Review

We used this diaper for night time and nap time. It worked great for nap time I only had to use 2 of the inserts. I tried it for a few nights, the first night he peed right through it. I think that's because he took a cup to bed with him that night. The last 2 nights we used it he hasn't really pee all the way through. My son sleeps about 12 hours and is a very heavy wetter. I think I'm going to keep trying this diaper a few more nights maybe add a hemp insert for extra absorbency. I really love the cutest of this diaper and the way it was designed. I haven't tried it yet for daytime use but I will and I'm sure it will hold up for a good 3 hours. ( that's how long he napped in it for)

Price

The average retail value for this diaper is $24.50, which is a great price for a heavy wetter.

Overall

I love the cuteness of this diaper, I love the pattern she used by rocket bottoms. It's a great diaper, Karen did a lovely job making it. I love it and I would buy from her again.

Little Moon Designs Pocket Diaper Review

Posted by Unknown at 11:41 AM 0 comments

Little Moon Design

The company

Jolene is a work at home, crunchy mom! She started making diapers originally to save money, but so many people told her they are so adorable and She should sell them. So that's what She did!! Jolene likes  to ride horses, sew, and save animals!

The diaper

The diaper that Little Moon Designs sent me to review is her OS Pocket diaper. It has a cotton outer a hidden layer of PUL, and a Sudecloth inner. The soaker is made a layer of zorb, sandwiched between two layers of bamboo.

The diaper closes using snap closures and has three rise snaps for a custom extra small, small, medium, and large fit.

Fit and Size

The diaper fit my 25 pound 36 inch tall chunky toddler best on the highest rise setting. It fit very well around the legs and we didn’t have any gaps anywhere. Overall the diaper fits great.

Thickness/Bulkiness

The diaper itself is not thick but the insert isn't very thick or thin it's about med. I really like that her diapers aren't bulky at all. it is so hard to find a slim diaper that fits over his clothes.

Aesthetic Design

I like the cuteness of the diaper. Jolene does a great job picking awesome fabrics for all of her diapers, even this one I loved it. I love the snaps match the diaper.

Sewing Quality

For the most part the sewing quality looks pretty good – the stitching looks nice and it has held up over multiple washings. The only issue we have had is that the stitching on the insert is coming apart on one edge. I don’t have a problem fixing things like this since I know how to sew. Other then that the quality of this diaper is great.

Price

The average retail value for Little Moon Designs One Size Pocket Diaper is $17.50. I think this is a great price for this WAHM cloth diaper.

Overall

I think this is a great diaper, Jolene is a wonderful person and is really great. I'd really love to test another one of her diapers in the future. I really have no complaints. I love the design and the fit.

Baltic amber Jewelry - Review

Posted by Unknown at 8:46 PM 0 comments

About a month ago I purchased a Baltic amber necklace from Inspired By Finn

Here's a little bit about them:
Our Baltic amber jewelry is a unique piece of history.  The amber beads are fossils from an ancient forest which existed tens of millions of years ago.

Baltic amber is not a stone, but a fossilized tree resin.
For centuries, Baltic amber has been used in Europe as a natural and traditional remedy and curative for many ailments and discomforts. Long ago it was considered one of the leading medicines of its time. Baltic amber is the most esteemed amber in the world, and the healing qualities of Baltic amber make it unlike any other type of amber found in the world.

It is said that when Baltic amber is worn on the skin, the skin's warmth draws trace amounts of healing oils out of the amber.  These oils contain succinic acid and are absorbed into the skin.
Baltic amber has some of the highest concentrations of succinic acid found in nature, and this is what makes it so special. Succinic acid is a natural component of plant and animal tissues, and its presence in the human body is beneficial in many ways.

How can Baltic amber help us?
  • Relief of Discomfort
Baltic amber is worn by our customers for a number of health and wellness benefits.  It contains analgesic properties and helps take the edge off of the discomfort and symptoms associated with:  dental issues (such as the emergence of new teeth, orthodontic brace adjustments, TMJ), growing pains, allergies, sensory disorders associated with autism, headaches and migraines, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck and shoulder discomfort, tendonitis, menstrual cramping, restless leg syndrome, back and knee discomfort, joint pain from chemotherapy, and many more.  In order to be effective Baltic amber must usually be close to the site of the discomfort.  For example, a necklace would not necessarily/likely be effective for growing pains in the legs.  For this we would recommend an ankle bracelet.
  • Strengthens the body's immune system
In many different and subtle ways, succinic acid helps boost the body's own natural healing ability and immune system.
  • Restoring Energy

The human body naturally produces succinic acid. The salt of succinic acid (succinate) is one of the most active substances in the processes of cellular respiration and intercellular energy creation. Succinic acid restores oxygen and energy supply to depleted cells and helps the body return to a normal, functioning state.
Succinate is a raw material and a catalyst in the Krebs Cycle which is one of our main sources of energy. During the Krebs Cycle carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are metabolized for energy.
  • Maintaining Wellness

When the human body reacts to stress, the body's cells begin to use oxygen more quickly. Oxygen plays a central role in the intercellular creation of energy and a lack of oxygen can result in feeling lethargic.
Oxygen is alkaline-forming in the blood and maintaining a slightly alkaline blood pH helps keep us healthy. Whenever the body functions in a state of low oxygen, it is much more susceptible to illness.

  • To help break a cycle of (chronic) inflammation
Where chronic inflammation is present, disease lurks.
When the body's cells are chronically inflamed the human body's immune system response is to increase production of free radicals. Chronic overproduction of free radicals results in inflammatory-related disease. Chronic inflammation is a common denominator of many seemingly unrelated diseases.
While wearing a piece or two of Baltic amber jewelry may not cure all that ails you, it has been a proven benefit to many!

That my boy wearing his he's so cute. But anyway here's what I think..

I purchased the necklace because my son is teething still so I firgured what the heck maybe this will help him stop drooling and hurting. He's been wearing it for about a month now, I don't see much of a different but he really doesn't drool as much and he hasn't told me his teeth hurt anymore. I'm still not convinced..

I think maybe he needs to wear it longer, I'll update this in a few months and see if there's any difference.
